General History of Faith

In the homeland of various domination had become established and religion was a tower of strength to most people. A minister of  faith, in some instances traveled with pioneers to the lands and was ready to bring spiritual guidance and comfort to groups of people. The minister arrived to churches that had been established in the new land to put a child or infant to rest of  families that had lost a loved one. The deceased was laid in the little hill side grave on the homestead with only a Layman 's and the hymn "Abide in me" sung by the weeping members of the family and few close neighbors.

It was never easy to bring a minister to a homesteader's log cabin for worship, for baptisms, marriage rituals, and burial services, many men in the community would rather take turns doing this. If the church managed to acquire a minister, especially when they did a minister form "Circuit Rider", the whole congregation was thankful and held the service for the entire community in the schoolhouse.

In the year 1980s, the first churches were established in Wabmun, most where Methodist and Roman Catholic. There were only a few white people as well as their Indian brothers.

Though labor volunteer members were limited, they gradually built churches and gradually finished. The people's dream however was to one day be able to build a manse and have a minister dwell among them.

1940 - 2000

Many veterans returned to farming and began raising families in the bright bank district following World War Two. Also, still residing in the area were most old timers. In gratitude for re-united families and renewed hope for a brighter future, church attendance was at peak.
